The Boca del R\u00edo municipality (Veracruz State) is crossed by an urban connector with two traffic lanes in each direction that becomes a three-lane motorway outside the city centre. This road enters Boca del R\u00edo overpassing the Jamapa River by two parallel bridges with opposite traffic directions.<\/p>\n
Boca del R\u00edo grew on the north bank of the river Jamapa becoming over the years a city densely populated and a consolidated urban structure.<\/p>\n
The project’s challenge was to solve the identified traffic problems and that at the same time mitigate some of the existing city discontinuities, promoting its sustainable growth to the south bank.<\/p>\n
Simultaneously, the designed solution solves the urban road junction but also launches new “bridges” for the requalification and appropriation of the entire riverfront of Boca del R\u00edo as a recreation and leisure area. It will be, thus, an iconic element that will set the difference, launch a sense of modernity and, above all, respects the city scale.<\/p>\n
The design concept consists of three decks: two motorways (each with three lanes) and a pedestrian Garden bridge in the middle.<\/p>\n
The new bridges will have a reduced impact in the visual river framing and will be aligned with the neighbouring monuments due to their low vertical profile.
